The calculator was created in accordance with the Methodology for Intermodal Freight Transport Greenhouse Gas Emissions Assessment No M/FN13/LTG/6 of AB Lietuvos Geležinkeliai. The assessment of greenhouse gases presented in the methodology complies with the principles of the standard LST EN 16258:2013 Methodology for calculation and declaration of energy consumption and GHG emissions of transport services (freight and passenger).
Methodology for capturing CO2e savings of intermodal freight
In order to evaluate the contribution of clients to environmental protection, we have developed a methodology for recording the CO2e savings of intermodal freight. The achievements of clients through intermodal freight transport will be confirmed by Green Kilometrage certificates issued by LTG Cargo. During intermodal freight transport in 2022 all LTG Cargo clients saved 67,000 tons of CO2 emissions. We are grateful to each client for a sustainable partnership and invite those considering joining to accumulate their Green Kilometrage for 2023.
Why it is worth choosing intermodal transport?
The need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions is becoming increasingly clear. Freight transport by rail is one way to make your logistics more sustainable, and is ahead of other surface modes of transport when it comes to overall carbon footprint. Let’s work together to find the best transport solution for you to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The greatest achievement of intermodal transport is environmental protection and the reduction of the negative impact of heavy vehicles on the environment. We hope that the new practice that is being developed will strengthen the advantages of each modes of transport – the economy and environmental friendliness of railways in freight transport over long distances, and the flexibility of road transport in delivering freight “door to door”.
The development of intermodal transport also helps to solve the problems of freight transport:
- Road safety and obstacles due to traffic accidents;
- The shortage of drivers;
- Loss of time at customs and road congestion;
- Package mobility limitations;
- Restrictions and costs related to stricter environmental requirements;
- Various traffic restrictions and costs for toll roads.
- We contribute to a greener world and encourage every company to set its own CO2e reduction targets. Now is the time to choose greener logistics!
